Headcanons and AUs

beeping_flyboiJust some info on my standard headcanons for Poe, because I spend far too much time thinking about him.
- BB8 is not just an astromech, he's also a therapydroid for Poe. He's a custom, one of a kind droid, not just because of his pretty paintwork, but because he has extra protocols to help Poe when he needs it.
- Poe suffers from depression. He's not unique in this and in fact therapydroids are often issued to retired veterans for a variety of reasons. Clearly Poe is not retired, but he lost his mom at a young age, and has lost friends right in front of his eyes, sometimes at his command. Sometimes his dad's words ring in his ears and he questions if there's an end and a point to fighting when everything seems doomed to repeat itself again.
- He's a hothead. We know this. He wears his emotions openly and sometimes they get away from him and he can't control them. They spiral, whether that's love, or depression, or anger. He needs grounding, whether that's from the touch of another being, his droid or from a blaster on stun.
- Poe is very tactile. Touch is soothing, particularly smooth, cool metal like BB8's casings or the nosecone of his X-Wing.
- When he's on base he prefers to stay in caravan type quarters rather than anything more befitting a Commander/General. It keeps him nearer to his squadron/friends.
- Given the chance, he'll decorate in orange/white/black. It's been his favorite colour combo since he was a kid and saw his mom in her flightsuit and knew that he wanted to be a pilot too.
- I've said it before, but Poe loves hard and he loves true. He's bi and poly, but he'll be fiercely loyal to the person/people he's committed to. He's been in love before, more that once, and had his heart broken. But he's not ready to stop looking for a love as strong as his parents had yet.
AUs
I'm open to any AUs or plotlines. Got an idea, just ask. These are a few of the AUs I already have for Poe in some form or other, but they are open to shifting about if something doesn't quite fit what you want.
- Modern AU. Poe is a freelance pilot that makes his money flying tourists into the more remote areas of wilderness outside of the city he lives in. He has a modest studio apartment and a white and ginger cat (the eighth of the litter).
- Vampire AU. Everything is the same, except Poe is a vampire now.
- Daemon AU. It's common for pilots to have birds or bird-like daemons. Poe's is a Lovebird named Ka'rta. She is small and fast and has a sharp little beak, which she's not afraid to use. But she is also sweet and cheerful and loves to snuggle on Poe's shoulder against his neck. Lovebirds form strong bonds and should never be solitary...
